It all began over a year ago now....on Friday 29th July 2005, I copied and pasted a selection of stories from fanfiction onto word, to last mer through the three weeks at my nanas without an iunternet, but with the laptop. Most of them were, to be honest, pretty rubbish. One of them, however, was absouloutly brilliant. It was called "Beginning of the End", by a girl calling herself Mei1105...and so, upon my return home, I sent the following review, dated 26th August 2005:
WOW! I love your story! As does my sister (Beth says Hi!) Now update! Quickly! I've been on Holiday too - where did you go?
By the way, since you started this before the release of Book 6, how do you feel about the Tonks/Lupin pairing? Just interested.
Update more! And the charecter is Lockhart! A stroke of genius!
More, more more more MORE! And it's good to find another person from the UK! We're Welsh, which is why we can't spell. We're also Doctor Who fanatics, and think the new Doctor looks like Danny from Grease, with a bad haircut.
Hi to Jenny if she's there! And to the Muses! Write more!
Luv Emma (Kate's Master) and Beth (Her sister, who proof reads her stuff and leaves random comments!)
Soon after, I sent another review! And it would be this one that really set the ball rolling...
How could you! I got so excited yesterday! I did all my homework, then settled myself down for a nice few minuites reading...and it wasn't there! But I accept your apology - it is a viable excuse. Just make sure you update on time next week, or I shall fall into deep dark depression!
Another brilliant chapter - any hope of you updating more than once a week? Pretty please? If I smile nicely and send you muffins?
I read your profile page the other day - this is going to sound really freaky but:
a) I think Star Wars rules! Myself and my young padowan (Kate, hence my name) are obsesives. As an example, when someone played Across the Stars (the love theme) in our school concert, we got teary eyed!
b) Doctor who rocks!
c) Well, who doesn't love LOTR and HP?
d) His Dark MAterials? Love it! Again, me and Kate are obsessives! We regulary write letters to Phillip Pullman offering him councilling with his doomed love problem. Have you read Sally Lockhart? In fact, if it weren't for PP, me and Kate wouldn't even be friends! But thats a long story.
But this is where it starts getting freaky.
e) I love Tales of the Otori! But I've not read the third one yet, my libary can't get hold of it! Damm them!
f) Earths Children - a stroke of pure genius! My nana gave me the first one when I was 12 - she hadn't read them, but she thought it was thick enough to keep me occupied for a while. I read all of them in a week - that was the summer shelters of stone came out. Then my nana read them. She was a little horrified when she realised what I'd been reading, and had a worried conversation with my mum about whether "I'd talked about the content at all." Needless to say, I hadn't. For a while I prided myself on being her youngest fan, but now I'm fiftenn that might not be so. Is she realeasing a thrid one, do you no?
Anyways, there you have an explination as to why I was so freaked out when I read your profile. Sorry the reviews so long! Hehe, naughty Emma! Next time, I'll use email! Anyway, please please PLEASE update soon!
A loyal (and slightly freaked out) fan
Emma
P.S - where can I find ramdom scribblings of a bored mind? it sounds funny!
(I would like to apologise for the awful spelling and grammar...I didn't correct it in order to preserve this historical artifact.)
And shortly after that...I recieved a review for one of my stories, How Things Could Have Been!
Wehey! It's your friendly little nutter! Thats right, its ME...cough cough ugh! Hairball! I'm okay!
Brilliant! I'm detecting major HBP sections here but not to worry, it's funny enough to make up for it. Dumbledoreish (cackles insanely...wait I'm not insane! I'm unique! UNIQUE!!)
All your characters rock! Jane and Izzy are well written. What's happened to Ron?! (entering freak out mode!)If you haven't updated by October 12th I will set my muses on you...! Oh wait, they don't do that. Umm...I'll do something evil! I know! I'll set Jennys green PJs on you...! What am I talking about? She's not going to let me do that!
Happy Daisys
Mei1105
P.S. We (myself, Lady Mearle and Tai Greywing) will email you Random Scribblings of Bored Minds within the next week sometime. May Stardust fall in your dreams!
(If anyones wondering, not only did I miss the months deadline, I later deleted and re-wrote How Things Could Have Been into, what is in my opinion, a better story anyway...)
And from then on it was all go!!!! Tash gained access to that wonderful thing that was MSN, and we began talking nightly. Then I decided to introduce my wonderful mad friend Kate, and in return we met Tashes friends Jenny and Steph. And so, for 2005, that was it...
Until, one March morning in 2006, Kate came racing up to me and said "Oh my god!!!!! We should get them to come up here for Beths birthday!!!!"
So the planning began...
Around that time, 2 more major events happened. Hannah met the lovely ladies from Guernsey, and Tash asked us to teach her brother and his friends how to talk to girls they weren't related to...and so...we met the Boys.
Unfortunatly, due to none of us being on the same land mass at any point during the summer holidays, it seemed out visit was off...until we turned it around, and decided to go on a day trip there instead!!!!! It took alot of secret planning (Beth knew nothing), and alot of calming down Hannah, who was liable to get carried away, but finally...we did it!!!!!!
And so, on August 18th 2006, almost a year after I left that fateful review...the 7:10 ferry from Weymouth docked in St Peter Port...and the day began...
Note - Unfortunatly, it was during the final planning stages of our trip that the final member of our group was added - Carly. And so, this time, she didn't make it with us...next time, I promise, she shall!
Little did I know as I typed out those first words all those months ago just how much they would change my life, and the lives of my friends....those words that would take us on a magical journey across MSN, fanfiction and piczo...and, eventually, to Guernsey...
And so...Tash, Beth, Kate, Jenny, Steph, Hannah, Chris, Reece, Tim, James, Steve and Carly...our Guernsey Gang!
Long may we stay up until midnight, sitting on our imaginary sofas, being stalked by random weirdos, getting writters block, argueing and behaving...here's to us!!!!!!
